5. Describe your current role and your career trajectory in risk & compliance?
In my current role, I have been doing FINRA reporting and resolving complex complaints to help the company ensure successful audits. The position has evolved by adding more compliance responsibilities. This is now of great interest to me and my goal is to leverage my knowledge and skills to move forward in the Compliance space by working autonomously with enough managerial support to be a top contributor. My industries of interest are Legal and Healthcare.
6. Do you have any habits or disciplines that you have developed that helps keep you motivated?
The 3 main habits I’ve developed are:
A). Always find the purpose in anything that I am doing. This allows me to operate in an economy of time so that time is not wasted and I am always growing and learning new things.
B). Stay present. In an ever-changing environment, I try to keep an open mind so that I can be flexible when things change while still focusing on the target.
C). Reflection. This is a big one for me because after reflecting on what went wrong and what went right, I can learn from what went wrong and I can improve on what went right.
7. What are you most proud of in your personal life and in your career?
In my personal life, I am a real advocate of education. When I taught Computer Applications and Business courses in the Public School System, I found that many parents did not have the resources they needed to partner with teachers to help the students be successful. So, I decided to write a book that provided information and resources that would be helpful to parents. I received a wonderful response and I’m glad it helped so many parents.
In my career, I've honed my communication skills which allowed me to build strong, lasting relationships. This has served me well, especially when I was a Project Manager and continues to enable me to be successful in my current role as a Resolution Manager.

It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity than to have an opportunity and not be prepared. -Whitney Young, Jr., Writer and Civil Rights Leader
